Someone in the administrative hierarchy here at the college didn't initially consider when his birthdate was; at some time during the fall semester 2008 he will reach this retirement age and will be able to collect benefits. He will retire at that point, leaving an opening starting in the spring 2009. The Dean has offered a one-semester Visiting Lecturer position for spring 2009. That ad will run in the fall. Please know that I had no control over this. This came out of the blue and was completely unexpected. The opening for the 3-year Visiting Assistant Professor is still active. Knowing more about the job you are leaving intrigues me. Would they consider a guy who has left the journalism field for a while? What do they pay? Like most Journalism majors...I left the field finding that I could make more cash elsewhere....but am looking to enter the field again. Any ideas anyone has for a sorry throwaway journalism major who can't afford a masters degree would be appreciated by anyone! This is a promo for its last quarterly issue of the academic year. Good reading here; some interesting stories! We at All Points North know you've been eagerly awaiting our summer issue and it's finally here! School's out, but we have for you one last pop quiz: Which American genius nearly drowned in Saranac Lake? What city in Canada will host a free Celine Dion concert this summer? Which up and coming local band boasts an 18-year-old musical prodigy? And for bonus points: Who built a European-style castle on 8,000 acres of private Adirondack land? Which notable Adirondack museum was recently given a "green award"? Where might you find the prettiest North Country wildflowers? Check out the website to see if you've passed APN's version of summer school! http://www.apnmag.com/ www.allpointsnorth.org As always, we welcome your letters and feedback.
